GreenCollar launches environmental research projects south west of Cobar

Sydney, NSW – 15 September 2016

GreenCollar is pleased to announce our research team is undertaking a collaborative environmental research program to increase the understanding of threats to agriculture and the environment in order to maximise the benefits gained from implementing carbon projects. The flagship research sites are located south west of Cobar and include former Cobar Mayor, Peter Yench’s property: The Meadows.

GreenCollar CEO and co-founder, James Schultz said “We are extremely grateful to have the support and backing of prominent graziers in the Cobar region. By working with local farmers on the ground, we are able to work towards gaining a greater understanding of carbon project risk management so that we can maximize productivity and positive environmental outcomes through better, cost-efficient land management.”

“With close to 3 million ha under management across NSW, QLD & SA, GreenCollar continues to assist farm managers to access additional revenue streams which allow them to supplement the income from their existing agricultural practices and ultimately help build more resilient and sustainable farming enterprises” he said.

Collaborative research in the Western Division aims to explore ways of providing access to Emissions Reduction Fund revenue to additional famers across the region.

GreenCollar has formed a collaborative partnership with the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) to undertake cooperative research projects throughout the rangelands of the Western Division of NSW. The program is being implemented with the support of the ORANA Regional Development Board and with the help of local graziers like Peter Yench.

Peter Yench is one of GreenCollar’s founding project partners and has helped drive support for carbon farming projects across the region.  Peter was one of the early adopters in an industry that now contributes significant revenue to landholders across the Western Division.
